The Devil’s Hopyard – Hiking, Picnics, & Haunting

I’m pretty sure you aren’t going to see the Devil, but there are reportedly many other things that hop around there.

The Devil’s Hopyard sits within a wonderfully forested area in East Haddam, CT.  There are hiking trails, fishing holes, waterfalls, a nice picnic spot and history.  There is also a different feeling in the surrounds – it’s a bit eerie.  Energy changes within the confines of the park.  Perhaps it’s all the water.  Water is known to attract things of a paranormal nature…it’s a conductor for it’s own energy.
Chapman Falls is the highlight of the park; is where the Eight Mile River starts it’s descent in a cascade flowing over the 60-foot cliff of boulders leading to the ground below.  Streams and rivulets run from the water below keeping much of the 1000 acre lush park.
Visitors come from all over and the park can get busy, but, it doesn’t stop the prevalent feeling of different and other presences from affecting you.  Hauntings, paranormal events, etc., happen both day and night, it makes no difference.  If there are presences in a place,  they are always there.  Why tv makes the night-time so important, I don’t know.  It’s irrelevant.
Regardless of where you are in the park, it feels like something else is there with you and encroaching on your ‘personal space’.  It beckons you to enter its realm and experience what it has to share with you.  A lot of things are seen, felt, and experienced while on the hiking trails, but orbs and apparitions can be seen moving about anywhere, anytime.
If you do decide to hike, be advised that the trails, (at least when last there), were not all that well marked.  And, there’s a lot of forest to get lost in on this terrain.  Even taking a minimal stroll through the area, though, can produce odd things.  Orbs travel through the trees,  dark shadows are seen walking in and out of the growth, and reports of disincarnate voices are frequent.  The environment seems to invite you to enter further, but, can you leave if you do?
